Tinteán means Hearth as Gaeilge. Tradition in Ireland was music, songs and stories around the fireplace.

The Tinteán Theatre is a state-of-the-art performance venue catering to big names as well as small local and amateur productions. The Tinteán houses a 550-seater amphitheatre as well as a cinema facility and art exhibition spaces. From comedy to music to Irish dance, the Tinteán offers a variety of shows at reasonable prices. Recent live acts include the adventurer Pat Falvey, Christy Moore in Concert, comedy from Tommy Tiernan and Pat Shortt, as well as numerous musicals, pantos and theatrical performances. It can cater to conferences and groups and is available for local events and fundraisers. It also hosts Bingo every Monday night throughout the year.  Conveniently located in town, just off Church Road, there is ample car parking and bus parking.
